VRC CRUSADER #2

NOVEMBER 2022

On November 5th, VEX VRC Teams 359B, 359C, 3590A, and 3590B competed at the second VEX Robotics Competition hosted at St. Louis High School.

PUSHING THROUGH

A total of 30 teams competed, including our own, which was a significant increase from the VRC Searider tournament. Although we came prepared and with each team competing in a total of 6 qualification matches, Team 359B ranked 4th with a score of 5-1-0 (Win-Lose-Tie) only being defeated once by their fellow Hawaiian Kid, Team 359C. Following Team 359B in 5th place was Team 359C with a score of 4-2-0, Team 3590A ranked 11th with a score of 4-2-0, and finally in 16th place was Team 3590B with a score of 3-3-0.

FINALS!

Alliance selection came quickly as teams competed for the top seat, teams reviewed  their scouting lists and began working on who they wanted to invite during alliance selection. Team 359B aligned with Team 4142A, Pearl City High School. Team 359C aligned with Team 3590A. Team 3590B aligned with team 42155B, Niu Valley Robotics. Once alliance selection had ended students met with their partners and discussed game strategies for playoffs!

LOAD IN

Teams drove to St. Louis High School for the second time this season and began with grabbing their robots and setting up their pit for the tournament. We prepared for inspection and were confident in our robots ability to compete and hopeful in our chances to take home the win! With two other tournaments as experience this season, our team began like always by speaking with qualification teammates and reviewing for judge interviews.

ALLIANCE SELECTIONS

Luckily all teams won their playoff matches, moving them onto the quarterfinals. 359C and 3590A won their quarterfinals match while Team 359B faced off against 3590B and eliminated them from the competition. Both teams went on to win their semifinal matches, moving them both to the finals against each other! Facing off against their fellow Hawaiian Kids, students were feeling anxious but ready to do what it takes to bring home a trophy! With a score of 141-109, Team 359C and 3590A won by 32 points against Team 359B and 4142A, securing their victory as the tournament champions for the VRC second St. Louis Tournament!

END!

Team 359C and 3590A were the tournament champions while 359B won the Design Award for their outstanding robot design. Team 3590A won the Innovate Award for showing strong innovation and ingenuity within the robot. Finally Team 3590B won the Build Award for their well constructed robot. As the competition ended, we packed our robots and headed back home after another day. We are so glad we had another opportunity to visit St. Louis for their second VEX VRC tournament and despite losing in the finals, took home many prizes with more to prepare for our next competition!
