FRC SUBTEAMS

In order to create an efficient, business-like structure, our program consists of 5 main sub-groups (Administration, Business and Media, Outreach, Control Systems, and Construction).  Upon joining the team, students decide which Subteams to join, based on their interests. The Subteams are constantly collaborating, allowing our team to run smoothly and efficiently.

ADMINISTRATION

Administration ensures that the organizational structure and communication between the different sub-groups are effective.  They are responsible for integrating academic and financial goals between Waialua High School, the Robotics program, the STEM Learning Center, and the Hawaii Robotics Organizing Committee/Friends of Hawaii Robotics.

OUTREACH

The Outreach team spreads the mission of FIRST, promoting the team’s role in STEM learning in the State of Hawaii and pursuing financial support through demonstrations, fundraiser events, testimonies, and assemblies.

BUSINESS, MEDIA, and DOCUMENTATION

The Business and Media crew document every learning experience on the team. They run the team’s social media and website. The team curates submissions for FRC awards in Impact, Animation, Design, Website, and Showcase Events.

CONTROL SYSTEMS

The Control Systems team regulates and commands the functions of the robot. Students have access to electrical equipment and components. They work on wiring the robot’s circuitry, applying various calculus and physics concepts in Java to program driver-operated functions and autonomous routines, bringing the machine to life.

CONSTRUCTION

The Construction team designs and builds an entire robot every FRC Season. The Hawaiian Kids use CAD (Computer Aided Design) to create blueprints for prototypes. Students use various equipment (Water-jet, Mill, CNC Mill, Lathe, Drill press, Hydraulic Press, etc.) to bring products to life, both fabricating custom parts and assembling them. Construction also oversees the Playing Field, equipment accessories for our machines, and safety compliance items. They focus on enforcing safety in the workplace and keeping work areas clean and organized.
