CHEZY CHAMPS

FRC OFF-SEASON

SEPTEMBER 2023

For the first week of competitions, our team participated in the Canadian Pacific Regional Event in Victoria, B.C., alongside 36 other teams hailing from 4 different countries. This event provided an excellent opportunity for us toThe Hawaiian Kids attended their first FRC off-season tournament, competing at Chezy Champs! Our students have worked hard by constructing the robot in collaboration with FRC Team 2910, Jack In The Bot, in preparation for this event! With our newly built robot, we were ready to show off what we could do!

BUILD RELATIONS WITH TEAMS

For years, our team has brought chocolate macadamia nuts to all teams at every competition. We want to spread our aloha to every team we meet, as everyone has worked hard and done their best to make an efficient and functional robot. It’s important that we continue to build the foundation of our relationships with other teams, starting with something simple and delicious.

ALLIANCE SELECTION

Team 359 was ready to start qualifications and work with teams for the best experience with our new drivers! With every match being intense and so close in score, it was a test of resilience for our team. No matter what, avoiding even the most minor errors would be crucial to our team’s success at this tournament. Team 359 ranked 15th out of 41, with a record of 6-7-0 (Win-Lose-Tie).

VENUE LOAD IN

After a long flight, our team finally arrived at San Jose, California. The competition was held at Bellarmine College Preparatory School, where we promptly arrived alongside our robot. Students began loading in by setting up our charging station, toolkits, and preparing for inspection. Later, we competed in a few practice matches to test the robot’s functionality. With many elite teams from across the country, this would be a highly competitive tournament!

QUALIFICATIONS

With qualification matches coming to a close, alliance selections were just around the corner. We were invited to join the second alliance, with alliance captain Team 696, Circuit Breakers. We then selected Team 4255, Robodores, and Team 4738, Patribots. The highly anticipated playoffs were about to start!

PLAY-OFF MATCHES

Facing off the seventh alliance, our team experienced immense adversity. With only our robot running through the majority of the match, it was a tough loss, moving us to the lower bracket. We then battled it out with the sixth alliance, and came out victorious! Unfortunately, our teams were beaten and eliminated.

TOURNAMENT CLIMAX

Although we did not win the tournament, our team is truly grateful for the invaluable experience gained through our participation and collaboration with other teams. The camaraderie and shared dedication to FIRST robotics has been inspiring, and we look forward to the opportunity of reuniting with our fellow teams in the near future. With steadfast commitment to improvement, we are diligently preparing for our next off-season event, Tidal Tumble! Imua Waialua!
