TIDAL TUMBLE
FRC OFF-SEASON
OCTOBER 2023
Tidal Tumble, hosted by Team 4414 HighTide, promised a thrilling off-season challenge where teams could hone their skills and robots outside the regular season rigors. Our newly constructed robot was tested in practice matches against some of the nation’s elite teams, setting the tone for what was to become an intensely competitive tournament.
CELEBRATING TEAM SPIRIT
Throughout the tournament, we found ourselves in the company of many remarkable teams, each showcasing their amazing robots and strategies. Being there, we had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with and learn from these talented individuals. The experience was enriching, as we shared technical advice, exchanged innovative ideas, and celebrated each team’s achievements. We reveled in the sense of community and the shared enthusiasm for robotics that connected us all. The event wasn’t just about competition; it was a collective demonstration of passion and ingenuity. We are excited and inspired by the great things we’ve seen and the potential for what we can achieve together. Looking forward, we’re eager to reconnect with everyone at future events, continuing to build on the relationships and knowledge we’ve gained.
ALLIANCE SELECTION
Team 359 was ready to start qualifications and work with teams for the best experience with our new drivers! With every match being intense and so close in score, it was a test of resilience for our team. No matter what, avoiding even the most minor errors would be crucial to our team’s success at this tournament. Team 359 ranked 15th out of 41, with a record of 6-7-0 (Win-Lose-Tie).
VENUE LOAD IN
The anticipation was high as our team landed in Ventura, California. Eager students and mentors made their way to the historic Ventura County Fairgrounds, the stage for the Tidal Tumble competition. Amidst the buzz of the arriving teams, our crew set up charging stations, toolkits, and underwent the crucial robot inspection, setting the stage for a display of engineering marvel.
QUALIFICATIONS
With qualification matches coming to a close, alliance selections were just around the corner. We were invited to join the second alliance, with alliance captain Team 696, Circuit Breakers. We then selected Team 4255, Robodores, and Team 4738, Patribots. The highly anticipated playoffs were about to start!

PLAY-OFF MATCHES
Facing off the seventh alliance, our team experienced immense adversity. With only our robot running through the majority of the match, it was a tough loss, moving us to the lower bracket. We then battled it out with the sixth alliance, and came out victorious! Unfortunately, our teams were beaten and eliminated.
TOURNAMENT CLIMAX
Although we did not win the tournament, our team is truly grateful for the invaluable experience gained through our participation and collaboration with other teams. The camaraderie and shared dedication to FIRST robotics has been inspiring, and we look forward to the opportunity of reuniting with our fellow teams in the near future. With steadfast commitment to improvement, we are diligently preparing for our next off-season event, Tidal Tumble! Imua Waialua!
