Week Three

Aloha! Welcome to the Third week of the 2023 CHARGED UP Build Season!

Check out our Week Three recap on Youtube!

Day 16

Week 3 has officially begun! Construction and Construction Support continue to design, fabricate, and assemble a prototype practice robot. They have also begun revising and machining parts for our competition robot. Meanwhile, Control Systems students continued working on programming presets and base functions for the robot. Business, Media, and Documentation is fine tuning our Week 2 Recap Video. They’re also creating a post to celebrate our Lead Mentor Glenn Lee’s birthday!

Day 17

It’s Day 17! Construction has continued machining parts for the practice robot and competition robot while also working on testing alternative prototypes. They also started fitting robot parts onto the bot as reference for our competition robot. Control Systems continued working on programming base functions for the robot and began wiring the power of the practice robot. BAM students posted our second week recap video and prepared a social media post for tomorrow that will go up on our instagram. They also continued working with our online mentors on our FIRST Impact Award presentation and what will be changed

Day 18

After a long day of work our Construction students fitted final robot parts for prototypes and competition robot while looking at possible subsystem alternatives. Control Systems continued wiring, wiring the power and CAN-bus. Business, Media, and Documentation posted on social media for the Week 2 recap video. They also worked on their FIRST Impact Award presentation and documented our subdivisions’ progress with photos and videos.

Day 19

Construction have continued working on fabricating final iterations of prototype parts and worked on redesigning robot parts to improve durability. While Construction works on the final robot, Control Systems finished wiring the practice robot and worked on making wire schematics for the technical binder. BAM students worked on adding pictures to our FIRST Impact Award presentation and gathering photos and videos to use for the Week 3 recap video. They also prepared an article for an OMG Robots submission.

Day 20

Construction Support continued working on parts for the competition robot while Construction worked on testing prototypes of redesigned robot parts. Control Systems debugged an issue with the CAN wires not transmitting data. They also began testing various subsystems with newly made code. BAM students worked on the FIRST Impact Award submissions and presentations, took photos and videos of each subdivision, and submitted the articles to Cerbotics. They also made sure to prepared to upload onto the website for the daily updates of build season!

Day 21

Construction and Construction Support worked on parts for the competition robot and began powder coating different parts. Control Systems worked on testing out different subsystems and picking up the field objects with the practice robot. They also tested the robot out on the practice field while tuning soft limits and speed. BAM students worked on the FIRST Impact Award presentation and submitted the FIRST Impact Essay and Executive Summary. They also made sure to take photos, videos, and prepare a script summary for the Week 3 video.

Day 22

Construction and Construction Support continued fabricating and preparing final robot parts to begin powder coating. Control System students worked on testing the drive, updated the code, and tested driving while running commands with the practice robot on our practice field. BAM students worked on recording the Week 3 Recap Video. They recorded and began compiling videos for this week’s recap video, took photos and videos to update our website, and prepared a social media post to go with our Week 3 Recap post.
