U-BUILDING

Business, Media, & Documentation

Our Business, Media, and Documentation (BAMD) members focus on the team’s media presence and production, documenting our team’s progress and achievements. Each student has a designated work space to curate and upload content to keep in touch with our sponsors, families, and fellow teams while fulfilling grant reporting requirements. During Build Season, students update our website daily and produce weekly video updates for our YouTube channel through Premiere Pro. The BAMD team is also responsible for FIRST Impact Award submissions and presentations!

Graphics Center

Over the past 25 years, Team 359 has worked diligently to expand all areas of our program. In addition to upgrading all work areas, we also have worked hard to designate a graphics center for our team. Through our machine, machine, machine, we have the opportunity to make custom in-house manufactured items and materials. We design and print our shirts, masks, and banners using the equipment!

VEX IQ was also housed within this room but in 2022, VEX IQ was discontinued.

Maker Space

Located in the same area as our VEX Center, our Maker Space is where most of our 3D printers are held. Creating 3D parts for various projects has been very helpful to the production and quality of products. Not only do we use these 3D printers for certain robot parts, but we create prototypes for Special. By 3D printing parts, we can ensure precise and automatic development as well as weight relief.

Electrical & Software Center

The Electrical & Software Center is home to our Control Systems Subteam. Students have access to electrical equipment and components (motors, wires, power connectors, cameras, etc). The Subteam has designated software set-ups to help our students code as they bring the robot and its components to life. A large classroom workspace allows our team to run tests to assess and improve the mechanical and software design.

FRC Storage Room

The FRC Store Room is a storage area for many items specifically needed for all year-round robotics supplies. For example, this is where we house tournament materials, power tool accessories, hand tools for both control systems and the construction team, and workshop materials. In addition, much of our electrical equipment (power strips, extension cords, lamps, etc.) that we use throughout the year are located here.

Finishing Room

This insulated room is dedicated to powder coating various aluminum/steel pieces, whether it’s for our robot or special projects. The powder coating gives our pieces a long-lasting and color-durable quality finish. Not only does powder coating give our robot a fresh, clean appearance, but it also allows for a more resistant coating from chipping, scratching, and fading. Our students and mentors electrostatically apply quality paints with a powerful gun. To finish the process, pieces are placed in an oven to allow the paint to fuse the color onto the surface, leaving a uniform hard coat.

VEX Center

The VEX Room is dedicated to our students interested in VEX Robotics where they have the opportunity to implement the engineering design process. Each VEX VRC Team has access to their workstations and a full game field.
